6.1.1.3 Thermal Expansion
Criterion

The
system design, components and subassemblies shall include adequate
provisions for the thermal contraction and expansion of heat transfer
fluids, thermal storage fluids and system components that will
occur over the design temperature range.
Comments:
The installer must follow the manufacturer's SRCC approved
installation instructions and install the components at the location
specified in the approved system schematic (Figure 1). All portions
of the system plumbing that can be isolated while energy is being
added must include a properly sized expansion tank.
