6.3.14 Liquid Flash Point
Criterion

The
flash point of a heat transfer fluid shall exceed by 28 degrees
C (50 degrees F), or more, the design maximum no-flow temperature
to be reached by the fluid in the collector. The flash point shall
be determined by the methods described in National Fire Protection
Association (NFPA) No. 321, “Basic Classification of Flammable
and Combustible Liquids.” In systems using a gaseous heat
transfer fluid; a flammable gas shall not be used.
Comments:
This requirement has been reviewed during the SRCC system
review and certification process.
The
installer must use the specific system fluids specified by the
manufacturer in the SRCC approved installation manual for the
particular system being installed.
