6.3.8 Contamination of Potable Water
Criterion
text:
Materials
which come in direct contact with potable water shall not adversely
affect the taste, odor or physical quality and appearance of the
water and shall meet the standards of the National Sanitation
Foundation.
Comments:
This requirement is evaluated during the initial system
review. SRCC evaluates the various components and their feasibility
of use with potable water.
Installers
must follow the manufacturer's SRCC approved installation instructions.
Figure
1 shows one of the components, the pump, that is reviewed to determine
if it meets the intent of this requirement. For example, a cast
iron body pump would not be allowed to be used in a direct system
(with direct contact with potable water). This would lead to iron
and rust problems.
