6.1.1.12 Effects of Decomposition Products
Criterion
text:
Chemical
decomposition products that are expelled from solar components
under in-service conditions shall not cause the degradation of
solar components or building elements to the extent that would
significantly impair their ability to perform their intended function
over their design life.
Comments:
This criterion is evaluated during SRCC system review.
Installers must follow the manufacturer's SRCC approved installation
instructions and system design.
Installers
must take special care when using various heat transfer solutions
to ensure that when expelled, these solutions do not cause degradation
of building elements. For example, pressure or temperature and
pressure relief valves' routing must be such that the expelled
solution does not adversely affect roof material. If, as shown
in Figure 1, the heat transfer fluid could chemically damage the
roof shingles, the outlet of the relief valve would have to be
routed to a safe location.
