| Criterion
6.1.1.9 Thermal Shock Protection
Criterion
text:
The
system shall be able to withstand any thermal shock caused by
an electric power failure.
Comments:
This criterion is evaluated during SRCC system review.
Installers must follow the manufacturer's SRCC approved installation
instructions and system design.
This
requirement addresses system components as well as unanticipated
occurrences such as power failures and their effects on the overall
system.
Numerous
components and loss of power situations affect this criteria.
These situations can include loss of power to the circulating
pump (Figure 1) and system controller. The impact of thermal shock
on various system valves as well as the actual overall system
design are evaluated during the initial SRCC review.
Although
the intent of this criterion is evaluated separately, various
other SRCC criteria impact how the total system design will affect
this criterion's requirement. Also, please see 6.3.4.
