Criterion 6.1.3.4 Expansion Tanks

Criterion text:
Expansion tanks shall be sized in accordance with ASHRAE recommendations.

Comments:
The evaluation of this requirement is conducted during the SRCC system certification review process.

Installers must use the expansion tank specified for the particular SRCC certified system being installed and install the tank in the location indicated on the system schematic.

Figures 1 and 2 show various installations of expansion tanks. Note that the installation in Figure 1 could be problematic since it is in a location where occupants could strike it while walking past the water heater.
