6.3.4 System Failure Prevention
Criterion
text:
The
control subsystem shall be so designed that, in the event of a
power failure or a failure of any of the system components, the
temperatures or pressures developed in the SWH system shall not
damage the system, or the building, or endanger its occupants.
Comments:
Installers must follow the manufacturer's SRCC approved
installation instructions and design methods. A solar collector
that continues to receive solar radiation after flow stops during
a power failure can generate dangerous temperatures and pressures.
During design review, the control strategy is evaluated to determine
whether unsafe conditions could arise.
