Criterion 6.5.10 Penetration Of Structural Members

Criterion text:
When penetrations are required in structural members to accompany passage of solar components, those modified structural members shall comply with local building codes.

Comments:
Installers must be familiar with local building codes and follow them. Questions related to penetration of structural members should be addressed directly to local building officials.

Figure 1 shows a structural member with electrical wiring that was installed during home construction.

In order to accommodate addition wiring, the installer made further penetrations in the member. (Figure 2) These addition penetrations could affect the integrity of this member.
