6.5.19 Penetration Through Fire-Rated Assemblies

Penetrations
through fire-rated assemblies etc. shall not reduce the building's
fire resistance required by local codes, ordinances and applicable
standards.
Comments:
Installers must follow the manufacturer's SRCC approved
installation instructions.
Installer
must also be aware of local codes that apply to this criterion.
If in doubt, check with local building department officials during
the permitting process.
If
building component penetrations such as the ceiling penetrations
shown below are questionable in regards to fire-rated assemblies,
the installer should check with the local building department
official.
