| Criterion
6.5.3 Space Use
Criterion
text:
Solar
components should not reduce or increase humidity, temperature
or thermal radiation beyond acceptable levels or interfere with
required headroom or air circulation space.
Comments:
Installer
must be aware of the requirements of this criterion during system
installation. At times it may be difficult to install the system
plumbing due to space constraints. The installer must do the best
he or she can in these situations. Future service and troubleshooting
access must be considered.
Figures
1 and 2 show situations in which system were installed in very
cramped areas. In Figure 1, the space use was very restricted
- but not enough to where tank piping could have been insulated
to prevent heat loss as well as increased temperatures in that
area.

Figure 1
In
Figure 2 the installer was very limited in regards to space for
system plumbing. Note the charred wood from the soldering process.
The installer was, nevertheless able to insulate most of the tank
area piping.
